At Rhyddings, our Extended Services programme is a cornerstone of our commitment to personal development, enrichment, and inclusion. Led by Mr Waqar Ahmed, Director of Extended Services for the LET Education Trust the offer is designed to empower every pupil to thrive beyond the classroom.

This extensive programme is built around five dynamic strands:

1. I AM Inspired & Motivated Programme

A vibrant calendar of cultural, educational, sporting, arts, and leisure experiences designed to:

  • Motivate pupils to engage positively in school life
  • Broaden horizons and life experiences
  • Build confidence, self-esteem, and wellbeing

Examples include:

  • Premier League and Champions League football trips
  • IMAX cinema experiences
  • Theatre visits (Matilda, Six, Mary Poppins)
  • Karting, Laser Quest, and festive outings

2. Let’s Be Foundation

An award-winning, youth-led social action initiative that nurtures leadership, empathy, and civic responsibility.

Projects include:

  • Monthly Curry Kitchen and Kindness Street Cafés supporting vulnerable communities
  • The Community Kindness Campaign
  • Kindness Fashion Project and Creatively Connected arts programme
  • Afternoon Tea for local elders

This strand gives pupils a platform to lead with compassion and courage.

3. Sport Infusion

A unique offer of alternative sports for pupils who may not connect with mainstream PE.

Activities include:

  • Archery, wrestling, self-defence, golf, swimming, fishing
  • Outdoor adventures like mountain biking and trekking
  • Visits to professional sports events (cricket, rugby, ice hockey)

This promotes confidence, inclusion, and physical wellbeing.

4. First Step Adventures

Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku (Forest Bathing), this strand reconnects pupils with nature through outdoor learning and exploration.

Experiences include:

  • Nature breaks to Keswick and Skipton
  • City breaks to York and Edinburgh
  • A residential in Cambridge

These adventures foster resilience, wellbeing, and environmental respect.

5. Cohesion Through Creativity

A multi award-winning creative arts platform that celebrates identity, diversity, and expression.

Projects include:

  • Beyond Labels spoken word and film project
  • Belonging Podcast and Creative Arts Series
  • Kindness-themed community art campaigns

This helps pupils discover their voice and connect through creativity.

It is open to all pupils, with targeted support to ensure equity and access.
