School Library

At the heart of our school lies a vibrant and welcoming library — a warm and inclusive space where a love of reading is nurtured and celebrated. Whether pupils are looking for a quiet corner to immerse themselves in a good book, a place to complete independent work, or a hub for literary discussion, our library is open to all.

Every week, pupils in Key Stage 3 enjoy a dedicated library lesson. These sessions provide an opportunity for students to explore a wide range of books, select titles that spark their interest, and spend time reading in a calm and supportive environment. Pupils are encouraged to take their books home to continue their reading journey and also spend time on Bedrock Learning to further develop their vocabulary and comprehension skills.

Our library is open every break time, offering a peaceful space for reading or quiet study. After school, the library remains open until 4:00 p.m. each day, giving pupils a quiet and supportive environment to complete homework or pursue independent learning. On Tuesdays, we host a popular Book Club where students come together to share their thoughts on a wide variety of texts. Wednesdays are dedicated to our Bedrock Club, providing additional support and encouragement for pupils working on their literacy skills.

We are proud to have a dedicated librarian who is always on hand to offer guidance, recommend books, and support pupils in their reading choices. Reading is truly at the core of our school ethos, and we are committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of books.

To further support our learners, reading intervention sessions take place every morning, led by our trained Key Stage 4 reading mentors. These sessions are designed to help pupils with specific reading needs build confidence and fluency, ensuring that every child can access the full curriculum and thrive.
