Uniform and Appearance

At Rhyddings, we uphold high standards of uniform and appearance to promote pride, equality, and readiness for learning. All pupils are expected to arrive in full school uniform and remain in uniform throughout the school day.

Uniform Expectations (Years 7–11)

  • Black tailored trousers or black, knee-length pleated skirt
    • Skirts must be pleated and sit just above the knee – no pencil, lycra, or clingy styles.
    • Trousers must be tailored – no stretchy lycra, leggings, or flared bottoms.
  • White collared shirt
  • Black Rhyddings blazer
  • Year group-specific Rhyddings tie (available via Arbor for £5):
    • Year 7 – Yellow
    • Year 8 – Green
    • Year 9 – Blue
    • Year 10 – Red
    • Year 11 – Silver
  • Optional black ‘V’ neck jumper with grey detail
  • Black, grey, or white socks or plain black tights
  • Plain black flat shoes that can be polished
    • No trainers, pumps, boots, high heels, suede, or branded logos
  • Plain black hijab may be worn if required
  • A suitable school bag is compulsory.
  • Rhyddings school bag for year 7. 

PE Kit (All Pupils)

  • Black/white training shirt with Rhyddings logo
  • Black football shorts with Rhyddings logo
  • Pupils of muslim faith may wear black tracksuit bottoms with logo
  • Black football socks with Rhyddings logo
  • Trainers (non-black soled for indoor use)
  • Hair shoulder-length or longer must be tied back

Outdoor Coats

  • Must be appropriate for school
  • Coats, jackets, scarves, hats, and gloves must be removed on entry to the school building
  • Hoodies and sweatshirts are not permitted

Strict Appearance Guidelines

To maintain a professional and distraction-free learning environment:

  • No jewellery of any kind (including earrings, rings, bracelets, facial piercings, and clear studs)
  • No make-up, nail polish, false nails, or false eyelashes
  • No unnatural hair colours, shaved patterns, or lines in hair
  • No extreme hairstyles, including shaved heads
  • Hair accessories must be plain black

Essential Equipment

All pupils must bring the following daily:

  • Black pen
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Rubber
  • School bag
  • School diary (provided by school)

Used/second-hand uniform is available via the school (contact Mrs Eaton, Family Learning Support Worker) and at Heritage, 5 Abbey Street, Accrington BB5 1EN.
