At Rhyddings, we study PE to develop the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our students. We aim to provide an engaging and challenging curriculum that allows students to achieve beyond their expectations. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive, with differentiated and adapted activities that cater to the diverse needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and PP.
We offer excellent opportunities to develop a healthy lifelong love of physical activity and to create a first-class teaching and learning environment where both staff and students enjoy working hard together to achieve success.
We want all our students to feel they belong as part of a team, believe in their healthy potential, and become as physically, socially, and emotionally well as they can be. We do this by developing the attitudes, skills, and knowledge required to be a leader and providing memorable experiences throughout all our students’ journeys within Physical Education at Rhyddings.
The aim of the PE team is to build on the whole school ethos of the ‘Rhyddings Way’ values by allowing our students to be:
- ETHICAL: By belonging to a team and building resilience in different competitive environments.
- EQUIPPED: To fulfil their own potential through differentiated instruction and inclusive practices that cater to all abilities.
- EMPOWERED: To become the best they can be, with a strong focus on personal growth and self-efficacy.
The PE department commits to creating a positive PE experience that minimises health problems and creates active habits for life. Our curriculum aims to develop pupils who are not only more physically literate but also socially and emotionally competent, increasing their likelihood of remaining physically active. We will regularly assess progress, engage families, and provide diverse extra-curricular opportunities to support all pupils in their physical education journey.
